Movers are there for us to assist us while we’re moving to our new homes, and sometimes that can be quite a large distance. Because of the long journey to get there, sometimes you simply can’t have every little thing in your home moved by a mover. Certain items can become a safety hazard to the movers, or even to yourself in the future if they are moved in a closed space, sitting there for a long period of time. For this reason, there are rules for what movers can and can not move for you. Here, we’ll discuss what you will have to leave behind and replace in the future, or simply move in your own vehicle.
VALUABLE ITEMS
If a mover is required to help you transport your valuable items from place to place, there is always a possibility of trouble for them which can also create future problems for the business itself, even if they did nothing wrong. To avoid this complication, movers can not move valuable items such as your money or cards with money, medications, valuable jewelry, or personal information. In the event that something did go wrong and something got misplaced, that would reflect on the company and the mover who was supposed to be in charge of it rather than you. Therefore, they do not move these types of items for you.
CHEMICALS
Even if you’re dealing with chemical items in your own home, you can be putting yourself at risk of being harmed. That risk becomes much greater for everyone involved if these items are placed in a closed in space in a moving vehicle. As a safety measure, movers can not move chemicals such as bleach, other cleaners, paints, alcohol, or any other type of chemical that could put anybody in danger. If you have items like this that you want to move with you and not have to replace, you will have to transport them on your own.
FLAMMABLE OBJECTS
Some items can be hazardous due to the fact that if they become too hot, they can catch on fire and/or explode. So it should be pretty understandable why movers can not risk their own safety- or even their lives- to move items that can put them in danger. A few examples of these items are lighter fluid of any sort, spray cans, gas tanks or gas, charcoal, and fireworks.
OTHER ITEMS
Some items, or beings, simply aren’t made to be closed in a small space, because it can be harmful to them. Most movers will not be able to move your pets for you, and the reasoning is just like mentioned before; they’re not created to be closed in a small space. Another thing that typically can’t be moved by a mover are plants. This is because they can carry bugs and other harmful things to other places that otherwise don’t have them. In other words, moving plants can possibly damage the environment that they are being moved to. One more thing that you may have to move on your own is certain food items. If you were to have food moved in a moving truck, there is a good possibility that it could go bad while being transferred, and cause your other belongings to be damaged in the process.
